Why wait until the new year for an aesthetic overhaul? For a makeover primed for holiday wear, look to Lucy Boynton, who traded her signature blonde chop last week for a gingered take on the year’s primary color trend: red. The actor debuted the burnished shade at a London screening of The Pale Blue Eye, with her pin-straight copper lengths pulled into a low-slung flip knot made sleeker for its center part.

Colorists Mark William Selley and Halley Brisker created the dimensional color, which felt all the more effulgent when secured with a gilded accessory in the back. The standout moment was rounded out by Boynton’s usual artistically driven, ‘60s-inspired eyes (separated lashes, well-placed rhinestones, and swipes of onyx), feathered brows, and a pink lip executed by makeup Jo Baker. Should the last lap of the year find you in something of a rut, make like Boynton and embrace that “New Year, New Me” mentality early.
