For Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline, confidence is key. “It’s not always easy, but it’s true; it’s a form of self-care, being kind to yourself,” she says. In tandem with nurturing a healthy sense of self (she shares a penchant for positive affirmations with White Lotus’s Haley Lu Richardson), following a skin-care routine is an important part of the 24-year-old’s approach to wellness. “I know that I’m going to thank myself when I get older for it,” says Cline of the diligent TLC she gives her complexion. Today, Cline, who stars in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery alongside Kate Hudson and Jessica Henwick, walks Vogue through her beauty regimen, from glow-inducing skin care to drawing on siren eyes.
To start, Cline begins with a TikTok-approved cleansing method: lather PanOxyl’s acne-fighting cleanser on her hand with a brush before applying it to her face. Then she presses the remaining product into her skin with her fingertips. “It just makes me feel like it actually good for my pores,” she explains. “I have noticed a difference in the amount of blackheads I’m getting.” After rinsing her face, she continues with Biologique Recherche’s oil-controlling exfoliant, a brightening duo by SkinCeuticals, and Dr. Barbara Sturm moisturizers—one for supple skin, the other for sun protection. Though Cline has not always worn sunscreen, she prioritizes it now, always wearing an SPF-infused foundation while filming Outer Banks. Once she applies eye cream and smooths Tatcha’s lip mask over her pout, Cline pulls out a bottle of Baccarat Rouge 540. “Something I learned is that if you spray the back of your neck lightly, then that’s what people smell when you’re walking away from them,” she explains of her trick to making fragrance last longer. Aside from her acting career, Cline wants to be remembered for always smelling good.
Onto makeup, Cline buffs in a radiant NARS foundation before applying concealer, contour, and a wash of sun-kissed blush. She then grooms her brows with a pencil, followed by eyeliner smudged into the waterlines. “It just makes my lashes look longer, darker, and fuller [before mascara],” she explains of the siren eyes-like effect completed with an etching of liquid liner, coat of mascara, and blush swept across her lids. Because her natural freckles become veiled with makeup, she accentuates them with a spangling of specks from the Freck pen. The finishing touch arrives through her perfect peachy lip, achieved by contouring her lips with a brown liner layered below two tinted Hermès lip oils. “I hope you were sufficiently entertained,” she jokes before blowing a kiss goodbye. “Love you!”
